HMS Orkney Fittings
HMS Orkney was the lead ship of the Royal Navy’s Island class of fishery protection vessels. Built by Hall Russell, the seven ships in the class were constructed between 1977 and 1979 for service with the Royal Navy Fishery Protection Squadron.
Designed along traditional trawler lines, the Island-class vessels were introduced to help protect the extensive fishing grounds and maritime interests around the British Isles, including important North Sea oil installations. HMS Orkney and her sister ships operated across the waters surrounding the UK, supporting the protection of Britain’s fishing industry and offshore resources.

The hull is moulded in white GRP and includes Sirmar’s moulded construction markings, showing the positions of the shaft outlet, rudder and bilge keels to assist with model building.
