Designed as a multi-purpose ship, H.M.S. Fearless could operate helicopters and landing craft from the rear well deck, supporting embarked Royal Marine Commandos. Both H.M.S. Fearless and her sister ship H.M.S. Intrepid played a prominent role in the Falklands Conflict during the early 1980s.
